What began in Intention 3 at Camp Elphinstone on the Sunshine Coast on a day corresponding with the end of the Mayan Calendar in 2012 continues its time spirit journey at the 10th anniversary of Intention. Embodying and forming our human altar of Intention blessed by the winter chill downbeat and ambient side of musical metacine on the third evening of the retreat. Generating sacred space with each other as a community practice we combine our yoga mats, our meditation cushions, our prayers, our expression through movement, art, cuddles, and dreamtime voyages dedicating our intentions together to the greater community of all life.

THE ONLY WAY to join us for this evening is by booking a seat on the Intention Bus. We look forward to this adventurous bus ride and bringing in some additional amazing souls into the sacred space that has been brewing for 3 days.

The location is not accessible by transit, and the last 8km are on a windy dirt road. To ensure safety of parti-cipants, the bus will bring people to the site for the gathering, returning the next morning after breakfast.

We have landed a glorious, big, orange bus to transport the lucky individuals who will be attending the Temple ov Intention night only! Tickets, in spite of inflation, will remain the year-old price of $50.

The bus will leave the Safeway parking lot located at Broadway and Commercial at 7:00pm Friday January 2nd and head for Intention 10.

Snacks and tea will be provided.

Promptly at 9am the next morning (Saturday January 3rd), the bus will leave for Vancouver once more, taking each and every bus rider with it.

The deadline from the camp for participant numbers is early this year!! We need to tell the camp how many people we are bringing by Thursday the 18th. This means you need to get in touch with one of the ticket sellers by that date!

Tickets are to be paid for in cash, at the time of purchase, when you also sign your waiver. If you live out of town you need to organize with a friend to pay for your ticket before the 18th and sign your waiver when you arrive at the bus the night of.

There are NO CANDLES, COMBUSTIBLES or NUTS allowed at the camp. In order for us to book this camp we have agreed to these conditions. This camp deals with children each summer, some of whom have serious, possibly fatal, nut allergies. Please, please respect the rules and process by which we have been allowed to book the camp.

Please join us as we begin preparations for the tenth anniversary of Intention!

What began as a gathering for unity amidst the uncertainty of an impending Y2K global systems collapse has unfolded into a decade of yearly winter retreats to renew ourselves and our community spirit as we enter each new year. Intention is an opportunity to practice the universal spiritual art of community, deepen our ability to cooperate, clear our emotional debts, and harness the gifts we each bring for whatever challenges or opportunities we will encounter in the still-uncertain times ahead.

Intention is a five-day, four-night event where participants of all ages give and receive workshops, perform, dance, play together, share meals and have fun. We huddle together in the darkness of deep winter spinning stories into a warm glow of laughter. Intention is a time and space for being ourselves, healing, dynamic community-building, community ritual, and an awesome New Year's party to lovingly let go of the year past and embrace a new turn around the sun.

Intention is a hub for the self-identified members of the tribal dance/rave/freak community from BC and beyond. A plethora of creative careers – artists, activists, healers, facilitators, djs, performers – have been launched and supported by participation in the Intention gatherings. For many, it has simply been a place to nestle amongst peers in a non-competitive and nurturing setting.
This retreat makes room for personal autonomy as well as collaboration. Intention is participant-driven - it allows maximum room for sharing our personal gifts or learning new skills. It is an opportunity to work together with old friends and new faces to create a safe container for a rich exploration of music, art, self-expression and creativity.

Everyone is encouraged to find their own way to connect into the organizing flow and become involved in the production. The program of what happens when, who does what, and how it all comes together for everyone to enjoy is brainstormed, discussed, planned and decided at public meetings in the weeks leading up to Intention at New Years. In this sense Intention actually begins the moment you commit to attending which in some cases could be as early as October! Experienced organizers work with newcomers so people can try something new in a supportive environment.

This year's Intention will be held again at a secluded, private camp for youth with special needs near Maple Ridge. Intention begins on the afternoon of Wednesday December 31st and ends on the morning of Sunday January 4th. The ticket price will be set and registration will open in early November. This event will definitely reach full capacity - priority for registration will be given to those who attend the public meetings; as always some spaces for guests from out of town will be held back and made available online.

Reintegration of the Tribal Harmonix

As an early member of tribe.net who saw the invites arrive on Friendster(!) drawing legions of mostly Californian Burners over to this site it is sad to see the bastion of what could be considered the neotribal movement (labels suck) fall to such a skeleton crew and leaky ship. As this is my reincarnated profile after the last one froze and I am seeing massive exodus as well as people blogging their personal e-mails to their networks (something I did and encouraged before my 1200 + network went into login logjam- to little avail I might add) I have some thoughts...

It would be negligent of me to not mention to those who don't know and even to those who do that a tribal community site that pre-dates tribe.net and most of the other trendy sites used by our widespread community continues to live on. When tribe.net,myspace, and facebook all vaccumed people into their folds offering many bells and whistles the traffic on the mostly Vancouver Mainland based site dropped dramatically. And yet it remains available for use, with the odd bug report, but with a much more faithful response.

Need to find someone in the community? I get asked for contacts constantly and the thx website has been useful for the most part, second only in speed to using Facebook (aka CIA Book) for searching a name, mainly because people will tend to use pseudonyms more than not on Tribalharmonix. When the masses glommed onto tribe.net Rheo the webmaster of thx.org created a means to link profiles from the two sites. A handy way to take advantage of the more rich profiles found on that site, but also showing the linkage between those networks and those found on the thx site.

I've seen so far a Ning site for tribers to join which in all honesty doesn't appeal to me so much. Who runs Ning? No clue over here. I'd much prefer someone at the helm who genuinely is a visionary and holds interest in such things as:

tribal co-operatives
tribal classifieds/tribal market
land co-operatives
sustainability
eco-community
Burning Man

Now, the only reason I've not tried to earnestly wage a campaign to get everyone over to tribe.net is a) it seems like an impossible task
b) people locally may tend to associate Tribal Harmonix with specific types of events/social networks that they don't see themselves reflected in for whatever reason due to geography,clique-ification, music taste etc c) diversity is more important than having everything on one platform, right?

And not only that, our one main webmaster couldn't easily contend with a mass migration onto the site with numerous demands and little time to field it all. As it is he's had to rely on google ads (tailored to be relevant to the community using the site) which I personally am not stoked on but it's the only real revenue generator to sustain the site based on trials using paypal.

For all the reasons barring the way from integrating networks on a tribal meme based I think the benefits of doing so outnumber by far. I've held hopes that tribe.net would accomplish the aims of dance communities which converged at conferences like Gathering of the Tribes which spawned so many worldbridging efforts in the dance movement. And I do count the successes but more towards opening the door for people who had previously not embraced the internet as a tool for our movement to come together. Now we're all here and our spaceship is malfunctioning and not going anywhere it seems. I applaud those who are running the site but they are subordinates of a corporate entity which in the end could care less about the sites continued role in evolving culture.

So in the very least, have a look, or another look at tribalharmonix.org and consider what it could mean at this time. Absorb the artistic layout graciously done by Sijay of OnBeyond Metamedia reflecting a Gaian approach to technology. Sijay had developed a pre-cursor to Tribal Harmonix called Navigator Online whose spirit was absorbed into the thx site in the infancy of the community networks. Absorb the relatively low tech systems in place which remind me of how the Battleship Galactica runs to avoid take over by Cylon technology. It finds the tried and true systems before jumping on the latest bandwagon which has been a bit frustrating yet also proven wise in some cases. Ultimately any social networking site will only be as spectacular as the people who frequent it, no matter how cool the features. Consider what a site like Tribalharmonix could be with the collective abilities of those who support its aims.

Some of those closer to the organizational levels of Tribal Harmonix will bemoan the dynamics which have prevented them from engaging in work with the site. Techies all have their bias' in regards to what they want to work with but as a guild of lightworkers using the medium I would hope that intention would override and allow the best outcome for all. I would hope that our webmaster Rheo would find those who he could work with to enable the platform for a wide diversity of platforms such as tribe.net has hinted towards but with a full arsenal of applications to make use of beyond what he alone could muster.

This rant grows long so I will try to finish this off. I will do that by saying that Tribal Harmonix is in its greatest sense a meme. Its words say it well enough but I will say that the original vision of Tribal Harmonix was to unite the already functioning circles of community in all their diversity, all their musical variation, to keep our light collectively brighter than if we held them all apart. It was at one time a noticable thing about our 604 region when people came to visit. They sensed a large community. Now it seems more splintered, which I take as a necessary growth phase as many people have stepped forward to form individuated scenes and pathways into the global arena. But now also perhaps might we see if it might serve us all to get back on our evolving virtual mothership and rescue the floundering webworks so we might fulfil our destiny with greater ability.

Digest and share feedback if you've made it this far and by all means if you haven't done so hook yourself onto Tribal Harmonix even just to explore within. See the archive of our collective consciousness that's been happening there since 2001 or so. See where it's aimed and let's traverse the chaos with Tribal Harmonix.

The Cariboo Dreamcatcher Collective’s main initiative is a weekend long Earth Day Gathering called Pollination. This springtime retreat is created by people coming together to share these personal strengths and talents to manifest this positive and fun event. This year marks our second annual multi- generation event, which will be held at Gavin Lake Forestry Camp, April 18-20, 2008, and begins with a First Nations blessing and drum circle, honouring the ancestors of this land. We continue with the first of five shared meals featuring delicious, fresh and healthful ingredients. An open-mic night will showcase the many talents of our guests, with live and electronic music continuing to close out the first night’s celebrations.

Saturday and Sunday feature workshops offered in a large spectrum of subjects, including yoga, natural building, body therapy demonstrations, African drumming and meditation to name a few. We host an art gallery and craft market to display the work of local and non-local artists and craftspeople. As with any celebration, music is a must, and we continue to highlight local talents and other musical guests from around the province throughout Saturday night.

This is being put out to the local Vancouver & Sunshine Coast BC tribe but I also wanted to let kin from other regions in on what's happening as I am aware that the subject of our council affects others as well. This may also be repeated at other festivals in 2008 in some form...

Call to Harmonix Council, Sun.Oct.21,1-4pm

On Sunday October 21st a council will be held at Memelab (1814 Pandora and Salsbury),east of Commercial, north of Hastings). By donation to cover cost of space rental. No one refused for lack of funds.

The Harmonix Council is the convergence of a men and women circle intended to increase the balance between the sexes to fortify and protect the community it serves. The focus of this council will be on how we can experience safer, more conscious, respectful interactions with sexual behaviour. It will also bring together ideas culled from both men and women circles regarding addressing people who have been affected by abuse, the roots of causing harm consciously or unconsciously to others regardless of gender. It is encouraged that these circles also clarify what we want to see and experience in relation to a positive, healthy sexuality.

The culminating aim of the council will be to draft a community code of honor in relation to Love Sex Intelligence to assist the community in the future and help with the clearing of the past of all that no longer serves and restore the positive values we hold in common.

In preparation for this council, participants are invited to take part in men and women circles held separately prior to the Harmonix Council. These will be happening on both the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver prior to October 21. People can do so on their own, bring this subject to existing men or women circles or join in the ones being organized. All circles should keep clear concise notes of their process and distilled recommendations for consideration at the Harmonix Council. Where wise, confidentiality should be held to make these circles safe for participants.

If possible please rsvp to sobeyone(at) photon (dot net) with your interest and intention for being a part of this council and let me know if you are able to take part in a men or women council prior to the 21st. Info will be sent to those interested in taking part in the men and women circles.

For the Harmonix Council all are invited to bring objects that represent their intention to be placed together on the altar to anchor the field being created.

For those inclined and for inspiration to accompany preparation for this council please note the 12th to the 20th of October is the Navaratri festival in Hindu tradition, a time of giving honor to the divine feminine aspect as personified by the many faces of Shakti. In some parts of India this festival is celebrated with dances of 40 000 men and women. Perhaps something can be taken from this phenonmenon to assist us in our North American culture in its unhealthy aspects.

Intention 9 approaches

So the story goes that our most favorite location, Camp Elphinstone on the Sunshine Coast is not being made available because the camp director wants to take that time off-fair enough, but not, at least not for the many people who want to converge around December 29-January 2nd. Last year pretty much the gamut of locations were combed through and Camp Squamish was our last resort which worked fairly well-but doesn't compare to Camp Elphinstone especially due to the size difference. It was really hard to not have everyone we wanted come out and have to turn people away. A repeat of that could easily occur at this point.

So..

We need help on this. Perhaps we need to come up with something to do about the camp decision. Anyone connected with YMCA organization? This also speaks to the pressing need for large private spaces for our gatherings. If we can't find anything sizeable enough however consider this your early heads up.

Having A Warm & Fuzzy Intention Moment..and more!

Blessings All!

Just wanted to let you all know that I'm always striving to stay in touch with that energy that we co-create at Intention, and that I'm always striving to live up to the ideals and potentials that we nurture while together...

I do wish we could all be living this reality on a daily basis, and even though i find it within my local community for the most part, (somewhat dispersed still..)there is an intimacy that the closeness of living, sleeping, sharing and creating in the same space on a piece of land together creates. This seems to give more potency to the process than that of the distance of living in different houses spread out over the city, the islands, mainland and Sunshine Coast contributes to the building of a conscious collective family..

I know we all need to start activating locally more, and sometimes I find myself spread thin due to my innate need to connect with lots of communities.

I have just been accepted into a program here in Victoria, called Lifecycles, and the intention with it is to put into motion my plans and dreams for the future. The way in which I aspire to support myself and my community. My vision is to co-create a community center where we can hold workshops, have gatherings (all night!) and have a healing cooperative happening too! I was care-taking and managing a community space that was aligned with what I envision, so I have some experience and support to draw from..

I am wishing to open a dialogue here about what sustaining this type of venture truly requires. I need input and am looking to the ones I cherish most for some direction!

I don't know if this means in the city, or stepping right on to a piece of land...whether it's a warehouse space or a heritage home...Whether it's here or there or anywhere...It is all new and the visioning is happening...

So let's hear some ideas!

Hi! Here's the deal on Intention8 NYE Tickets. This year we'll be using the waiting list for tickets, and taking cash at the gate. There will be no ticket sales at the gate. Pre-registration only.

Tickets are $35, and we have 100 available. We're using the online system for all 100 tickets, so if you to come on NYE please register for the "waiting list" at www.tribalharmonix.org/events/event_register.php?eventid=585. You can arrive anytime after 8pm on Dec.31st, and must leave by 8am on the morning of Jan.1st. Breakfast will be served at 7am and is included in your ticket price.

The future of arts and culture in BC needs your help!

The Provincial Government's Standing Committee on Finance recently
recommended in its budget report to Treasury Board that the
government: "increase funding to the BC Arts Council to enhance arts
and culture in the province."

This is great news! But for this recommendation to have effect, the
Ministry for Tourism Sport and the Arts needs to follow up with a
request to Treasury Board for an increase to their budget.

And you can help make this happen.

Here's what you can do:

1) Email the Honourable Stan Hagen, Minister for Tourism, Sport and
the Arts (stan.hagen.mla@leg.bc.ca) saying you endorse the Standing
Committee's recommendation. Specifically, tell him you support the
following key recommendation:

"To ensure an adequate investment in sustainable communities
throughout British Columbia, Arts Future BC is recommending all-party
support for an increased investment of $32 million in Arts and
Culture through the British Columbia Arts Council, in the 2007-2009
budgets."

2) Send a copy of your email to:

Background

Throughout the fall, the Alliance for Arts and Culture through Arts
Future BC has been coordinating submissions to the Standing Committee
on Finance and Government Services. This is the committee that makes
recommendations to Treasury Board for the upcoming provincial budget.
The Committee toured the province this fall getting community input.
Arts Future BC coordinated oral presentations to the Committee in
eight regional centres and presented the Committee with a detailed
written brief . All of these presentations focused on the
recommendation to increase BC's investment in arts and culture with a
$32 million increase to BC Arts Council's budget.

Who is Arts Future BC?

Arts Future BC is a coalition of eight BC arts and culture service
organizations and citizens groups. The Alliance is one of the
founding members. Between us we represent over 900 arts
organizations and thousands of individual artists and arts supporters
throughout the province.

Why Now?

A delegation from Arts Future BC will be asking for the Honourable
Stan Hagen, Minister for Tourism, Sport and the Arts for his support
for the Standing Committee on Finance's recommendation to increase
support for arts and culture through BC Arts Council. Your letters
will add strength to our arguments and show the Minister that he has
a broad base of support for this initiative.

Why BC Arts Council?

Arts Future BC believes that BC Arts Council is THE vehicle to
deliver this much needed investment: it puts funding into the hands
of individual artists and arts organizations directly engaged in arts
and culture creation, production and dissemination, and community
development through the arts, working throughout the province. BC
Arts Council is also the best agency to deliver core funding to build
sustainable arts organizations, to support BC artists, and to ensure
that BC communities benefit from a stable arts sector that
contributes to the social and economic health of the community.

Why $32 million?

Arts Future BC has researched Provincial Government's current
investment in arts and culture, set reasonable funding targets and
costed out what it would take to reach these targets. $32 million
will move us from one of the lowest of Canada's provinces in
contributions to arts and culture to one of the highest. This is not
unreasonable considering BC has one of the most vibrant arts and
culture sectors in the country. This increase will also provide much
needed longer term stability for BC's arts and culture community.

Thanks to everyone at our thinktank tonite at 7 Studio's and to those contributing ideas here as well as the many tribe from near and far who i've been in touch with who have been supporting roles. We have many interesting options being entertained and many that have been tested with pragmatism. We have some fresh horses checking into options now. Big ups to Michael Bean for a valiant effort the past month trying every camp in the BC Camp directory and then some. There's been a lot of learning here for many of us.

We are setting the end of the following week for a deadline to complete all the weighing of options and aim to pull off some form of Intention tho it will certainly be a deviation from the traditions we've had. Perhaps from this will derive new forms of novelty we've yet to imagine.

Our primary goal is to get something set up multi-day out of the city and the second is an option of a shorter weekend event in the city. The option of doing a full retreat to the scale we originally had set sometime later into 2007 has also been put on the table as an option but for now we're looking at the New Years period.

Thank you all for you understanding of the changes occur and helping to manage them with the collective intelligence I fondly call Tribal Harmonix.

greetings kin,

we are rapidly approaching year's end, now two moons away, which means we are rapidly approaching the time of another intention gathering @ camp elphinstone. let us gather together and discuss our intentions.

the goal is to have a series of orientations to activate our intention-ality within our community before taking it to the coast to reunite with our other kin. thru games, discussions, movement and logistical planning we can gather, prepare & enjoy each other's company.

nejmah, mike sheehan & myself will be hosting an orientation gathering next week @ the point st. house to bring everybody together and collectively discuss our wants/needs for the upcoming intention weekend.

Last orientation the ball got rolling with a session that included a discussion about the common ground of our values in community, including areas that we may have disagreement. We discussed things we aim to change in the world. We looked at where we feel powerful and are able to give our gifts to others.

This coming orientation includes a culture lab that looks at the theme of Community Freqonomiks facilitated by Sobey & Michael Bean.

What is the capacity of the dance community network for providing us tools for right livelihood, finding work, for working with kin, working for ourselves, and enabling us on the path of financial independence and abundance. How can we mobilize resources and increase the carrying capacity for the frequencies of community to permeate into economics?

It is such questions that will be layered into this orientation as we head into looking at other dimensions of community and reality selection as we approach Intention 8.

Each orientation begins with a icebreaker and introduction. an 8 minute screening of a past Intention film short by Twice Lost Productions & an introduction to the overall retreat with important updates and summaries of the process' in motion for this year. Pods are introduced to give sense of the leylines of the retreat which allow for aligning with the areas of your highest passions and interests.

Intention Orientations starting Nov.9 (Vancouver)

: Intention Orientation Schedule 2006 : Beginning Thurs.Nov.9

The preparatory incubations of this years Intention 8 are being held in Vancouver at 7 Studio's (440 W.Hastings @ Richards).Aside from a film screening and introduction to the retreat each orientation will layer a theme/exploration to enhance the dynamic of what we are unfolding together. In that sense Intention begins the moment you join into the process. While registration can happen online, it is warmly encouraged that past and potential future Intention citizens share in these specially prepared sessions which serve as samplers of what's to come. Here you can also register and tune in to the pod formations that will be setting up the dynamic cooperation that makes Intention what it is.

At Intention Summer Camp I hosted a Council of Intention to focalize the shared passions and synergetic potentials of those gathered and for the neotribal movement. I asked those present to consider some questions that might act as servitors of manifesting our collective dreams. I share what came out here for those people and others to consider:

What resources do we need to see the dream manifest?

How do we organize the resources we can have (to publish, to spread to people)?

Updated Invite for Intention 7.5 Summer Camp

In the midsummer of 2006 the tribal dance network family are invited to pack their camping gear and join together at the first summer version of our annual winter Intention Retreat. Situated at our time honored Crystal Creek location on the Sunshine Coast BC, we join with the intentions set upon it, of crystallizing conscious community in balance with nature.

As with all Intention Retreats, it is less spectacle oriented and more participant driven, with people encouraged to share their talents, gifts,resources,ideas and skills towards co-creating the micro version of the world we wish to inhabit on an eventual larger scale. At the same time we are each witness and encouragers to each others growth and our collective movement towards evolution in a spirit that contains child to elder.

To increase the participatory levels and give time for the needed collaborations and projects that will be created to be ready for the camp we will be hosting a small number of local orientations in the community fold. At these working pods will be formed.Other visiting dance tribes are encouraged to host their own in preparation and will be given support to do so.

To give a loose idea of how things will flow and how you can insert your flavor into things, the weekend may contain:

Permaculture is about permanent agriculture; permanent
culture; intentional community
"self"-sufficiency/"self"- reliance; providing for all
of human need in as small a space as possible: and
dropping out. It about making a radical break with
the dominant paradigm. It's not a hobby. It's a
lifesaver.

It's also about work and commitment.

What are the prerequisites to permaculture? How do we
get started? What needs to be in place to propel the
plunge? What is necessary to sustain that break with
the mass culture for years?

The presenter of this workshop has thought about these
issues since his first drop-out in 1962. He will lead
a discussion based on what motivated him and what has
kept him living simply and alternately for over four
decade.

TRANCE FORMATION:
The Spiritual Dimensions of Global Rave Culture

Over the course of nearly two decades, the rave scene has evolved into much more than simply an electronic dance music party. For thousands of people around the world, it has become an important source of spirituality and the closest thing they have to a religion. In this workshop, Robin Sylvan will share material from his recent book, Trance Formation: The Spiritual and Religious Dimensions of Global Rave Culture, an ethnographically rich look into the spiritual dimensions of rave culture from a theoretically informed religious studies perspective. Combining firsthand accounts, extensive interviews with ravers, and cutting edge scholarly analysis, Robin will take us on a colorful journey from San Francisco to London, from Burning Man to the Love Parade, and illuminate the deeper aspects of rave spirituality. We will also explore next steps and future directions in the evolution of the spiritual/intentional wing of the rave scene.

TRANCE FORMATION:
An Experimental Electronic Dance Music Ceremony

While many raves use ceremonies to create sacred space, unfortunately, all too often, the intense trance energies generated on the dance floor dissipate as we shift into a passive verbal mode. But traditional ceremonies like the West African possession dance or the Sufi Sema of the whirling dervishes demonstrate that trance dancing can be utilized in a ceremonial form that channels these energies toward sacred ends. This workshop with Robin Sylvan is an experiment in creating this kind of ceremonial form with electronic dance music. Using sacred intentionality, ritual practices, and specific movements, gestures, and formations, we will focus and direct the powerful energy of the trance dance experience in a ceremonial context in a specially designed hour-long sequence of music. We will trace the arc of a ceremony – creating a sacred container, generating energy, and dedicating that energy – through trance dancing to electronic dance music, so that the ceremony, like the rave experience itself, is danced/embodied/enacted rather than spoken.

Robin Sylvan, Ph.D., is the founder and director of The Sacred Center, a spiritually-oriented educational organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has taught in both mainstream academic and alternative experiential contexts. He is the author of Trance Formation and Traces of the Spirit: The Religious Dimensions of Popular Music, and has been a music aficionado and spiritual seeker for most of his life. He is now working on a major study examining the brain science of musically-induced spiritual and religious experiences.

Intention Summer Camp is going to feature a workshop program comprised of submissions from the registered participants attending the retreat. Any workshop is welcomed that can fit within an average timeframe of 1.5 hrs to 2hrs and can be less than that too. Multiple workshops from the same presenter is a possibility but there can be no guarantee that all submissions will be included due to space and time limits. At this retreat special areas in relation to the following areas are being sought to further the long term strategies of community development in the tribal dance networks:

Resource Mobilisation: includes tribal economix, business strategies, business association formations, music distribution, fashion arts and artisan markets,tribal co-op development

Sustainable Community: including greening festival intitiatives, clean fuels, permaculture design implementation, food security, working with Crystal Creek on its sustainable design directions, integration of young and old generations and future generations.

Cooperative Interpersonal Dynamics: non-violent communication, dyad work, conscious relating tools, sexloveintelligence, contact improvisation dance, theater, performance

Leads on Summer Intention Retreat Location Needed ASAP

This is a last call out for any leads on location for a summer version of Intention (working title Intention 7.5). We meet on Thurs. March 23rd and are close to finalizing location but would like to hear of anything else that meets our needs which include:

no way for us to get noise complaints

what a lovely time of year..

Intention was so rad this year! I was very thankfull to be back at Camp Elphinstone where we could rock the fish bowl, and to reconnect with such a vibrant community. I felt like I was comming back again at another swing in the circle -- parts of that camp ground I hadn't set foot on since two years ago. It struck me how much I have changed since that first Intention, how my life was affected by that gathering. I connected with so many new friends that I get to know better now. I love the RESPECT that is intrinsick to this gathering. There is a real spirit-to-spirit hello that goes on around we people, that I find really supports the growth and happy existance within myself (& others?). Hopefully these kinds of interactions can happen all year round, but intention is a special place in my life where this style of communication is adressed pretty openly and consciously. The days become longer and more full.

I miss intention! I wish it was all year round! The food was freakin' AWESOME this year. Music made me happy, as did making masks and connecting with people, making art, being ridiculous and playing with fancy toys. ra ra ra!! :D

Bridging the Gender Divide

There is a quality of in-betweenness that I want to raise awareness about.

This quality is embodied in the medicine of two-spirit people (in our contemporary society these are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and intersexed people).

This inbetweenness extends from our sexual orientation (root chakra) to the crown chakra.
Biochemically, the sides of the brain communicate slightly differently. We have an aptitude for synthesizing the masculine and feminine. Hence the modern expressions, 'butch dyke' and 'girly boy'. We can experience the world as woman feels it, and as man feels it. As such, we are naturally good mediators and mediums.

This inbetweenness is evident if you look at gay people, and yet we ourselves are very much in the dark about it. People think that to be gay is just about who you have sex with. Not so. One major factor is that we have lost our queer myth, our sacred archetypes. As a result, gay culture is very much on the surface of what it is to be gay.

When I see a workshop entitled 'Bridging the Gender Divide', I feel like I have something to offer. And yet what I see in this workshop is an overwhelmingly heterosexual paradigm which seems to be aimed at helping straight couples embrace their wholeness. Where do I fit into this?

I attended the Sex Love Intelligence workshop at this Intention and found it very inspiring, in part because I was able to challenge the paradigm, to rock the boat. I was able to make the sincere suggestion that men can find much healing thru getting in touch with their ass. I was able to make the connection between respect for Mother Earth, respect for Yoni, and respect for the receptive center of the Male body. I think my perspective was well received.

Recently, I went hiking and singing with a friend. I have been sharing this practice of connecting deeper with Nature. We ended up in sacred space with a tree. A big gangly swamp tree covered in moss was reaching down to us. Feeling this, I reached up and touched the tree, and we began dancing together, me and the tree. I could feel the tree enjoying itself, and moving me into a deeper dance.

Afterwards, my friend jumped up and started dancing with the tree too. Reflecting on this after, I saw that this was a good example of how the two spirit quality of being in between facilitated an opening into sacred space. The tree spoke to me, and thru me, my friend was able to feel something different as well.

I do not mean for this to be an ego trip. Thales said, "Know Thyself". I believe that just as women must know their unique qualities, so must two spirit people. All thru my childhood I emulated the straight world-- 'good boy, fetch ball, hit ball with bat, etc etc'. I have really come full circle to be able to express my perspective without shame or anger. I hope that I am able to convey my feelings in a gentle and loving way, when I say that I feel that there is a deeper work that can be done in our tribe when we honor and include two spirit people. This is different than passively tolerating homosexuality. You see, there are faeries all around us and they are longing for their wings. I hope that this message provokes reflection.

Greetings!

Upon reflecting on the workshop I facilitated at IR, I thought it might be a good idea to post a thread to build upon the ideas and thoughts around our shadow and light voices.

In our workshop, it became clear that everyone felt a need to focus on their shadow voices (as all too often, we are discouraged to allow this voice much room in our daily lives). By posting this thread, it is my hope to allow us the opportunity to expand on this topic, sharing/exchanging tools to find a harmonic balance within our shadow and light inner voices.

The discussion seemed to just take off, as it was time to close for lunch. My hope is that those of you interested in continuing the dialogue will do so here in this thread.

Below, you will find a brief outline of some of the things we covered in our workshop:

A. What do our Light Voices sound like? How do they effect our relationships with others? with ourselves?

B. What do our Shadow Voices sound like? How do they effect our relationships with others? with ourselves?

C. What tools do we have to maintain harmony w these conflicting voices? -- to tap into our light voices when our shadow voices become too consuming?

D. Guided Meditation:

Focus on your breath. Clear your mind, focusing only on your breath. As you focus on your breathing, begin to recall a time when you were visited by your shadow voice. What were you doing? What did it say to you? How did it make you feel? What color was your shadow voice? What did it look like, feel like, taste like, smell like? Now, invite your shadow voice to visit you right now. Ask it to sit with you. As it joins you, check-in with yourself. How does it feel to sit with your shadow voice? Stare into the depth of your shadow voice, and ask it what it needs from you? what does it want from you? Consider how your shadow voice may serve you. As you ponder this, ask yourself how you might be able to meet your shadow's needs... your needs? Consider how your shadow voice may respond, if you actually met its underlying needs. Now take a moment to thank your shadow voice for how it has served you.

E. In small groups, we exchanged additional tools to work with our shadow voices.

I felt so accepted and welcomed by everyone, and I feel like I've made a new and incredible family... intentional solitude for empowerment

dear sweet lovley intentionites .. hehe..
i'm so excited for this years retreat.i feel deeply that it will be a place of growth and holistic ecological change. as a matter of fact i know that you have already inspried chamge this year by just being for me and 1 other person.

this said,
i regret to inform you that i will not be joining you this year. please know that is is not a reflection of you , in any way, as i have been eager to join you since last year. it's just that the process i am in right now requires that i stay in l.a.

i have been working diligently at breaking away from and reprogramming a deeply rooted fear of loneliness.

as it turns out impossible for me to feel lonely or disconnected in your presence it would be of no challange for me to spend the week connected and loving with so many of you; it would actually be a very lovely and sweet distraction. so my higher selves and i have concurred that it is our highest interest to stay home alone.

i am finally free of the neediness to connect and taking the time to test my new grown wings of solitude as place of empowerment.

it's finally begining to feel really good and my creative endeavors are blossiming, especially in the photography.

the other thing is that the seeds of an intentional community here in la are being planted and it's my desire to be supportive, so i will be hosting a small intentional gathering at my home for this new year.

i wish you all the most empowering and love filled intention new years and hold a special warmth in my heart for you all, individually and collectively :)

Intention 7 Workshop Schedule

Thanks to everyone who has been patiently waiting for the workshop schedule for this years retreat. It was a major task configuring slots and there is always the chance that its still subject to change and that more workshops or less might occur as is the nature of things. If you are a presenter of a workshop and there is a need to adjust your time we can work it out if you contact the Workshop pod thru me. The workshop as is will be to give the aproximate version but please look also to the giant workshop schedule that will be put up in the main hall for last minute shifts. Big thanks to the workshop pod for assisting in this including Jeet K, Daniel, Cori, Romina, and Scott and to all who submitted workshops. If you do not see your workshop listed please let me know asap if we haven't already been in touch about it.

If you can print this out at home please do otherwise a limited amount of copies will be available at the retreat.

victoria intentionites: please read :)

i sent the following out to everyone i had an email for but in the event that you didn't get it, here it is :)

hope you guys are all as excited as i am to be making the trek to the
coast in the next few days! we have such wonderful, colorful, creative
and lovely victoria tribees going... and to meet up with our sunshine
coast and vancouver kin... mmm! can't wait!

sooo... please remember to bring stuff for the victoria cabin, such as:

- art supplies
- cushions/squishy things to sit on
- blankets/foamies
- wall hangings
- artwork
- lights/candles
- musical instruments
- toys
- documentary/educational/fantasy films (i'm helping to facilitate a
space for a bit of a film festival)
- anything else that would make the cabin that much more comfy and inviting

on that note, i know there are at least a few people, including
myself, who have some items they'd love to have at intention but are
planning to walk on the ferry/travel by bus/have no dedicated
vehicular transport... so i'd like to put out the call to anyone who
might have room in a truck or van perhaps to let us know if it's
possible to fit a few extra items in. there is a tribe thread started
about this already, so please take a look if you think you can be of
some help, thanks:
